As a German historian and political scientist, I both have no love for Hitler or the NSDAP, and as an apatheist I have little love for Christianity (or religion as a whole). However, I feel inclined, as a man of facts, to point out that while Hitler made various public statements and the like regarding how hunky dory Christianity was, in private he would speak his true views of how he wished it to be wiped out sometime after the war and stuff were finished.
ReplyDeleteThis can be seen, for instance, in the creation of the German Christian Church, which was a means of infiltrating the Christian-dominated religious scene in Germany and slowly pulling people away from true Christianity (i.e. the love thy neighbor stuff the GOP ignores) and into more lies from the NSDAP.
If anyone reading my words here wish to read a good (i.e. accurate) book about Hitler, I highly recommend Ian Kershaw's "Hitler, 1889-1936: Hubris" (for what an anonymous internet person's recommendation is worth, anyway).
Otherwise, I mostly agree with the comparison here.
Peace out,
~Andreas
